The book is currently selling for $40 per copy (which is about
the production cost) ---but for members of the NSVA Vince will sell
them for $30 per copy and he will pay the ground freight cost if
books are ordered in increments of 5 books, that way they would not
require repackaging.
I have read a book published by a former Seabee Team # 1001 OIC titled
"The Life & Times of Vince Kontny" which is surely one of the best books
that explain what the Seabees faced in country and throughout South East
Asia during the 1960's. "Vince stated While I received my degree from the
University of Colorado I received my education in the Seabees."
I started reading the book and found it hard to lay it down. The required
projects & pacification experiences that all the Seabee Teams found
themselves in while in Viet Nam was what we Bees always called "Doing the
Impossible with what was on hand at the location they found themselves in."
Vince also provides a very good report on the highly decorated Seabee Team
#1104 and the Seabees members who were under attack where Marvin Shields won
the Medal of Honor.
