Hello to all Seabees past and present! I am the widow of PO1 Raymond P. (Smoke) Guntharp. He was a very proud U.S. Navy Seabee (Ret). He served two tours in Vietnam and retired out of Gulfport, MS in 1983. Cancer claimed his life on April 14, 2001. God, how I miss him!! I know that I will see him again one day and that keeps me going plus our 15 year old son. I am so thankful to have his son who is so very much like him in looks as well as character. Ray, you got there before me, Baby, but don't give up on me! I'll be there! I will always love you!

Was with 121 first deployment Phu Bai, looking for men who remember 1 sept 67 mortar rocket and small arms fire attack. My seperation papers authorizes a FLEET MARINE FORCE COMBAT OPERATIONS INSIGNIA FOR PARTICIPATION IN ACTUAL COMBAT ACTION. Trying to determine if I qualify for the Combat Action Ribbon. I was told a letter had to be inserted in personnel record file by an officer. ANY COMMENTS?

Admin reply: If DD214 has it listed then you are entitled. If is just your papers then you should make application for ammended 214 and attach all related paperwork and see what happens.

My best memories of a 28 year career was the 19 years I spent with RNMCB 28 in various locations from Dallas to McAllester to Gulfport, to Barksdale AFB, Bossier City and with my parent Unit Baton Rouge.

I'm an Equipment Operator 2nd class petty officer in the United States Naval Reserve. I enjoy and take pride in what I do, by serving my fellow Americans in our fight for freedom. I am new to this site. And from what I have seen, I think it's very cool. Keep up the good work. OOH-RAH SEABEES; WE BUILD, WE FIGHT, CAN DO!

I am looking for information regarding the Construction Battalion Maintence Unit 623 that my uncle Leon Smith belonged to during WWII.
He was a Machinist Mate 2nd Class.

Any info greatly appreciated.
